Vaidanya clinical care
Gentle bio-purification using medicinal leeches (Jalaukavacharana) for localized blood and skin restoration.
Clinical approach
Leech therapy (Jalaukavacharana) is a classical Ayurvedic micro-purification technique categorized under Raktamokshana (blood-letting). It is utilized to painlessly and effectively remove localized blood impurities, resolve circulatory congestion, and treat severe inflammatory skin conditions.
At Vaidanya, we use specially bred, sterile medicinal leeches for this gentle bio-purification process. The efficacy of leech therapy goes far beyond simply removing impure blood. As the leech attaches, it secretes natural, highly bio-active salivary enzymes—most notably hirudin—into the patient's bloodstream.
The procedure is surprisingly painless (feeling similar to a mild mosquito bite), meticulously supervised, and highly effective for localized Pitta and Rakta (blood) disorders, including:
Therapy in classical Ayurveda is never one-size-fits-all. Dr. Pooja Sharma examines your metabolic fire (Agni), tissue strength, current doshic aggravation, and medical history before determining whether this protocol is indicated for you.
